VENT OPTIMIZATION
HEAT RECOVERY SYSTEM

Ultra-Vent-Plus-Photo_Frame

In conventional venting, moisture-laden air is reheated before it is vented and cold make-up air is introduced where it cools the previously heated air. It just doesn’t make sense to heat air, then throw it and the energy away, but nearly all kilns operate in this manner!

With an UltraVent Plus System from MSprague Inc., only the moisture-laden air is exhausted from the kiln. Its heat energy is extracted by an air-to-air heat exchanger which preheats the incoming make-up air by up to 100° F before it enters the dry kiln.

Each UltraVentPlus Dry Kiln Heat Recovery and Vent Optimization System …

  • Is a totally self-contained patented venting system, including all ducting. It does not rely on the dry kiln fans for air flow control.
  • Uses a passive air-to-air heat exchanger that captures heat energy from the exhaust air to preheat the make-up air by up to 100° F.
  • Has special, patented distribution ducts inside the dry kiln which optimize both exhaust and make-up air flow. They incorporate optimized metering holes for maximum drying effectiveness. More uniform venting and air flow management assure you a more consistent drying environment and better drying.
  • Contributes significantly to maintaining tighter wet bulb control for higher quality and faster drying.
  • Greatly reduces the corrosion normally associated with venting.
  • Will add to your total drying capacity without the trouble and expense of adding boiler capacity.
  • Provides a single extraction point for future VOC pollution control apparatus.

Some Typical Savings...

Energy Savings: 20 - 30% reduction in direct steam consumption drying material

Quality Improvement: 1 - 1 1/2% grade improvement means more higher value product

Reduction in Drying Time: 7 - 10% faster drying means greater production possibilities

Tighter Control: consistent control of drying conditions means you may not have to invest in expensive multi-zone schemes or control systems

Energy Tax Credits: the UltraVent may qualify for tax credits in some areas. Oregon currently offers a 35% credit on installations
